Splash Movie Review - Starring Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah

!: Splash Movie Review - Starring Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah

"Splash" is a very funny and entertaining romantic comedy starring Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah, who plays the role of a mermaid. Although the plot is pretty ridiculous, the acting is quite good. John Candy also has a funny role as Freddie, the rather perverted brother of Allen (Hanks), who works for Penthouse magazine.

In 1964, as an 8-year-old boy, Allen takes a boat trip with his family in Cape Cod. There he encounters a mermaid about his age in the water. He jumps after her and swims underwater with her a bit before the boat crew save him.

Now 20 years later (in 1984, the year the film was made), Allen lives in New York City where he sells fruit. Allen is depressed because his girlfriend has left him. He complains to his brother Freddie that he seems to be incapable of being in love. He decides to take a trip to Cape Cod. There on an island he meets the same mermaid he'd met as a kid, but doesn't realize she's a mermaid since she doesn't show him her tail, which she only has when she's in the water. Allen and the mermaid make love on the island. A biologist named Dr. Walter Kornbluth sees her in the water with a tail and is determined to prove his finding to the rest of the world.

Allen leaves his wallet on the island by accident. The mermaid looks at his ID and sees that he's from New York City. Then she finds a map on an old abandoned boat underwater , looks up New York City, and swims there with Allen's wallet.

The mermaid shows up naked in front of the Statue of Liberty, where she is arrested for indecent exposure. The police call Allen, whose number they find from the information on his ID. Allen rushes to the police office to pick up the mermaid. He takes her to his apartment and she borrows his clothes.

While he goes to work, the mermaid goes to Bloomingdale's and uses Allen's money to buy some new clothes. She also learns English by watching TV from a group of TV sets on display. After work, Allen learns from the concierge that she went to Bloomingdale's and picks her up there. He is surprised to learn that she can now speak English, just from having watched a few hours of TV. He asks her name, but when trying to answer, she ends up breaking the TV sets with a loud shriek.

Allen is very much in love with her but knows practically nothing about her, least of all that she's a mermaid. He gives her the name Madison, which she chooses while walking down Madison Avenue. Madison tells Allen that she can only spend six days with her, but won't tell him why or reveal her true identity.

A few days later, while ice skating with Madison in front of the Rockefeller Center, he decides to propose to her, but she tells him no flat out. Allen becomes very upset, so she finally changes her mind. She realizes that she must reveal her secret to him in time.

Eventually the day comes when Madison must reveal her true identity. Dr. Kornbluth has been trying for the last several days to get her wet in order to prove that she's a mermaid. Finally he succeeds after a presidential dinner. Several onlookers are stunned when they see her tail, including Allen. Madison and Allen are taken to a top secret research lab where they're investigated. Allen is placed in a tank for 12 hours, but since no changes in him are observed, he is released.

Now Allen is heartbroken once again, since he realizes that he'd fallen in love with a mermaid. His brother Freddy convinces him that what he has with her is very special and to go after her again. Thus he gets Dr. Kornbluth to sneak him and Freddy into the lab to rescue her. They manage to get her out, though the feds still go after her.

Eventually Madison tells Allen that they can live together underwater, but that he can never return. After some deliberation he agrees and they jump into the harbor together. They fight off some divers who go after them and swim together to an underwater city.

"Kung Fu Panda" - The Transmitter of Chinese Culture

!: "Kung Fu Panda" - The Transmitter of Chinese Culture

"Kung Fu Panda" which is filled with Chinese culture and Chinese elements travels throughout the world and use its Chinese elements to become popular among the world. From another aspect, it performs the role of the transmitter of Chinese culture and elements.

From the analysis above, many people will have such kind of feeling, the Chinese elements expressed in this film are the common things we often meet in our daily lives, the Chinese culture it shows is known to every Chinese people. But, how can these things which are originally ours are labeled with Hollywood brand and spread successfully throughout the world and welcomed received by all the people? "Kung Fu Panda" becomes successful, however, what lessons we can draw from this film?

When enjoying "Kung Fu Panda", I believe that most audience will have the illusion that this animation is made by Chinese directors, for the Chinese elements expressed in this film make Chinese people feel it is close to our daily lives and we even can't find an air of clumsy provincial imitation in this film. From there, we can see the foreigners have prepared a lot in the production of this film. According to understanding, the directors of "Kung Fu Panda" is nuts about the culture of China.

It takes him about ten years to research on the culture of China. Meanwhile, this film takes those five years to finish. During their five years, they come to live in China for a few days, and go to Li Jiang and Guilin these places of interest for a visit. They also have a study on so many Hong Kong made sword-play films in the period of 1970s to 1980s. These prepare and efforts reflect the producers obtain the quality of the rigorous attitude to learn Chinese culture and scientific methods to produce the film.

Comparing with the foreign directors, Chinese directors' speed of directing film seems more "instant" than the foreign directors. The block buster made in China need one or two years to finish. They all hold the view to promote Chinese culture and bring some Chinese traditional plays which is known to everyone for them to direct.

Benefits of Compression Clothing

!: Benefits of Compression Clothing

Compression clothing is believed to squeeze out the very best of one's personality as well as figure. This is the prime reason for its popularity with sportspersons and women in general. The high Lycra content in compression outfits lends elasticity to the garment, makes it cling to the skin, thus squeezing the muscles underneath. The higher the percentage of Lycra in a garment, the stronger is the compression effect. Approximately 70% Lycra is supposed to produce the desirable results but without proving uncomfortable to the wearer. Compression garments offer many benefits apart from just enhancing the figure and aiding sports performances.

Compression Clothing: Benefits

The following are some of the ways in which compression clothing can be beneficial to the wearer:

Thermo regulation: This is one of the primary benefits of this kind of clothing. Maintaining the right body temperature is crucial for optimal performance. Muscles must be kept warm in order to avoid injury. However, overheating, too, can prove injurious to health. It can increase stress and slow down your reactions. Compression garments keep the body at the correct operating temperature.

Reduced muscle oscillation: Each time you move a part of your body, your muscles too move in sync. At every movement of the muscles, a small tear occurs within the tissues. These slight tears, along with the increase in lactic acid, lead to muscle pain. Reducing the damage rate can go a long way in improving the body's condition as well as working hours. The elasticity of compression garments supports the entire body, proving appropriate for sports activities.

Increased blood circulation: Enhanced blood flow would mean quicker delivery of nutrients to the muscles and faster removal of waste products. All in all, increased circulation denotes efficient metabolism, which would lead to higher performance and rapid recovery in case of injury. Better performance would be the natural result.

Enhanced muscle power output: It is a known fact that muscles help in power output by supporting the stretch cycle. The right amount of compression can stimulate the muscles, aiding greater performance.

Fashionable and concealing: Compression clothing can also boost your style quotient. Specific brands manufacture these garments with specific purposes in mind. Therefore, if the style factor is your priority, you have to make a thorough search online to ensure that you are selecting the correct brand.

You can either buy compression clothing directly from a showroom or from an online wholesaler. With a wholesaler you will get the benefit of online discounts. For a comprehensive range of compression garments, visit the website.
